What is Gold Vermeil

Gold vermeil jewelry is a popular choice for those who love the look of solid gold but want a more affordable option. Gold vermeil is a type of jewelry that is made by coating a base metal, usually sterling silver, with a thick layer of gold. This results in a high-quality piece of jewelry that has the look and feel of solid gold, but without the high price tag.

One of the major advantages of gold vermeil jewelry is its affordability. Solid gold jewelry can be quite expensive, and many people simply cannot afford to buy it. Gold vermeil, on the other hand, offers a more affordable option without sacrificing quality or style.

Another advantage of gold vermeil jewelry is its durability. The thick layer of gold that is applied to the base metal ensures that the piece will last for years to come, without tarnishing or fading. This means that you can enjoy your gold vermeil jewelry for a long time, without worrying about it losing its shine or color.

In addition to its affordability and durability, gold vermeil jewelry is also very versatile. It comes in a wide range of styles, from delicate and understated to bold and dramatic. This means that there is something for everyone, no matter what your personal style may be.

A thick layer of gold is then electroplated over the base metal. While it may sound similar to gold plated jewelry, gold vermeil jewelry has a much thicker layer of gold. This means it is less likely to fade, tarnish, or wear off like cheap gold plated jewelry. What’s vermeil really though? Well, quite simply, it’s the process used to make gold vermeil jewelry.

Here are some of our favorite vermeil pieces that are not easily tarnished and won't turn your skin green:
